QEA Tech, Carbon Lock Tech, and Neuropeutics Inc emerge as finalists at Entrepreneurship World Cup National Finals in Canada

The EWC Canada National Finals held hybrid with finalists pitching virtually August 10 were organized by Startup Peel in partnership with TiE Toronto and LaunchPath.  The event in which the top 8 startups pitched virtually from various locations across Canada while a judging panel of 3 experts evaluated the startups and mutually selected the top 3 who would continue their journey to the global finals.

The top 3 finalists are QEA Tech, Carbon Lock Tech, and Neuropeutics Inc.

QEA Tech, QEA Tech conducts detailed building envelope energy audits using proprietary AI-enabled software, drones, and thermography. Our solution quantifies energy loss for each building envelope element, pinpoints envelope issues, and recommends targeted retrofits that maximize energy savings and ROI.

Carbon Lock Tech, Carbon Lock Tech is a Canadian clean-tech startup focused on developing carbon dioxide removal (CDR) systems and technologies. It is currently advancing its patented biocarbon reactor system, researching innovative applications for long-term biocarbon sequestration.

Other finalists in the EWC CANADA National Finals included:

  • APOSYS TECHNOLOGIES from TORONTO, a startup that empowers railway companies with the benefits of predictive maintenance. 
  • SAAFLITE from TORONTO, a startup developing a smart LED light system controlled via an AI integrated mobile application for continuous surface disinfection in public spaces.
  • PRAGMACLIN RESEARCH from ST. JOHN’S, a startup that developed PRIMS, a digital tool for accurately assessing Parkinson's Disease progression.
  • DOUBL from TORONTO and KELOWNA, DOUBL is a startup that solves the decades-long problem of bra discomfort with AI-fitted bras, so that women can get a bra made exactly to them, achieving support and comfort, without even having to leave the house..
  • FRIENDLIER from GUELPH, a startup building a turnkey reusable packaging system to help businesses transition away from single-use.

Thirteen Canadian startups advance to the “EWC 250” - the next round of the global competition against applicants from 200 countries. All founders advancing to the next round will participate in a Bootcamp which features virtual training and mentoring sessions targeted to their company’s current stage and growth trajectory. This is a key step to qualify for the EWC Global Finals

The top 100 finalists globally will advance to pitch live for a share of USD 1 million in cash prizes at the EWC Global Finals held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia November 5-9, 2024. Global finalists also gain automatic entry into the GEN Starters Club, an invitation-only community of talented founders from around the world.
